    Colorado enacted the alarm law partly because of several deaths attributed to carbon monoxide poisoning from November 2008 to the end of last year, including a Denver family spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Aspen. Roughly 170 people a year die in the United States from carbon monoxide produced by malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, stoves and water heaters, according to SAFEbuilt Colorado.     The Gift They Keep on Giving  May 27, 2009
    I originally made and gave that gift to my brother-in-law for Christmas (I had taken the family pictures at Thanksgiving and thought he would appreciate the gift as he has a very close relationship with his mother). He passed the gift off to his mother (right in front of me) as something he created himself and gave out of the goodness of his heart. (Slate)
